MOCA’s learning programs are an integral part of the museum’s ongoing efforts to amplify and actively co-create opportunities for community-based learning in the arts. MOCA’s education programs are free, artist-led, and designed to be accessible, culturally responsive, and inclusive. Our programs are offered both in K–12 classrooms and at the museum to promote interdisciplinary learning and create spaces for imagination and critical thinking. They are a significant resource for children, youth, adults, and seniors who may not otherwise have access to arts education, and they provide vital work and teaching experience for artists in Southern Arizona.
Our ongoing learning programs offer bilingual instruction and include classroom-based K–12 arts education at Title I schools, multilingual summer camp sessions, teen cohorts, intergenerational LGBTQIA+ centered arts workshops, artist talks, and more. Through art-making activities, each program centers collective learning, friendship, and care.
